Catteries
All the timber that we use in the manufacturing process of the catteries is sourced from sustain ably managed forests, which operate within the approved scheme - Forest Stewardship Scheme (FSC).
Your catteries has been manufactured in pressure treated wood (Scandinavian redwood). This process is often referred to as tantalizing.
Tantalizing involves impregnation with Tanalith E (new environmentally friendly) wood preservative under controlled conditions in a vacuum pressure timber impregnation plant. When impregnated into the timber the chemicals become fixed into the timber and cannot be removed.
The treatment described above gives wood the qualities of a long service life and long term protection from fungal and insect attack.
Tanalised timber does not need any further maintenance treatment but will naturally weather over the months. This is caused by the effect of sun, moisture, wind and other exterior conditions. The efficacy of the preservative continues. If you wish you can over-treat the tanalised timber to slow the weathering effect on the timber.

Duchy Farm Kennels was founded in 1997 by Kevin Payne and his two sons, Philip and Daniel, as a family business. Initially starting out selling garden sheds and wooden fencing panels, but now majoring in craftsman built catteries.
In 2004, Daniel suggested selling catteries on the internet and from here the business has never looked back. From primarily being Lincolnshire based, covering the towns and villages in and around Boston and the fenlands, to now supplying the whole of the UK mainland.
The Cattery designs are uniquely designed by Kevin and his sons, in development with customers own personal comments, requirements and feedback from over 10 years, resulting in the ultimate in pet homes. Made in the best quality timber from major UK suppliers, sourced from Northern Europe.
If you are looking for the simplest designed catteries or even a state-of-the-art Chalet style catteries, there are a multitude of sizes to suit all dogs from the tiniest Yorkshire Terrier to the largest Great Dane.
We also have a growing reputation for manufacturing catteries, which are made in the same quality timber, with just as much care and attention to detail and these are of similar design to our chicken coop and run, if you so wish to have free range eggs at home!

Our Range of Catteries have been designed for, and with our customers for maximum comfort for your cats and easy of use for you. All of our catteries feature cat flaps and raised sleeping areas.

There are two types of catteries, boarding catteries and breeding catteries.
A boarding catteries is where cats are housed temporarily when they can't stay at their owners' home. Boarding catteries, cat boarding kennels, are mostly used by owners who are away on holiday although they may also be use boarding catteries during house moves, building work or when their owners are incapacitated, for example if they have to go into hospital.
Boarding catteries in the United Kingdom are required to be licensed by the local authority's Environmental Health department under the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963
A breeding catteries is where cats are bred. Cats may be bred as a hobby or on a commercial basis where they are sold for profit.
The Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB), a long established cat charity in the United Kingdom, has defined standards for construction and management of boarding catteries. FAB standards are in addition to those set by local councils for licensing purposes.
In the United States the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) is the largest organization establishing standards for member breeders. Additionally, many U.S. States and municipalities along with the Federal government provide some regulations of breeding catteries.
